Video 1: The Obstacle Course

We are back!

Hopefully you have all managed to catch up on your sleep and you haven't all clogged your washing machines with mud! This week, I will be editing and uploading the videos that we made whilst at Manor Adventure. This will probably take a few days, so keep popping back to see if you can spot yourself! The videos will also be shown on Chad Vale Television in our lobby (in much higher quality!) once we are back at school.

I have a large bag of lost property, collected from the boot room and dorms...I will be attempting to wash it and will bring it back to school next week! Please let us know if you are missing anything by adding a comment to this post!

Thanks,

Mr. Sansom

The last post....from Manor Adventure

The final night was great after a visit from Mr. Cham and the disco for our evening activity. After a little persuasion almost everyone had a dance and at the end of the disco we brought out the cakes we had bought for Kieffer and Callum's birthday and sang to them! We then ate our cake and went back to our dorms for some 'chill-out' time, showers and most children started to pack!

Everyone slept well on the final night and Mr. Sansom woke everyone up this morning by telling the children they had all overslept and breakfast was in 5 minutes! Everyone got up really quickly, then we told them they actually had another 30 minutes! Most are now packed...although mums and dads, prepare yourselves to be washing all weekend. There are lots of smelly and muddy clothes...

This is the last blog from Manor itself, but Mr. Sansom will be adding more photos and videos from the week during half term, so please check back daily to see if you can spot your children in their activities.

Thank-you to all parents who have sent messages to us through the website message board- your children have loved seeing them and are now all looking forward to returning to school (apart from the odd one or two who have said they now want to live here!)

See you all later...

Good Morning from the Manor

Morning to everyone following us at Manor Adventure. Everyone is fine, some a little tired, and a few rooms needed waking this morning! Everyone was fast asleep last night within 5 minutes of lights out, and we have all had a hearty breakfast this morning. One group are currently up in the trees completing the confidence course (photos later), one group are doing team initiative activities, and the final group are crate stacking!

Thank-you for all the birthday messages for Callum and Kieffer- we hope this will be a birthday to remember...!

Update 2

We are all fine and in our evening activities at the moment! Please come back here tomorrow and hopefully, you will be able to read replies to your messages on the guestbook....

Update!

It’s day 3 at Manor Adventure, about 5pm, and we are all just finishing our fourth activity of the day. We’ll be having dinner, then some free time before our final session starts at 7pm! Today we have been doing ‘Crate Stacking’ (see the photos!) which was something we had never done before- it was great fun!

2 groups today have also completed the High Ropes course, an aerial trail in the trees, where we had to ascend into the canopy via a rope ladder, then traverse a variety of rope bridges, all about 20 metres above the ground. Many of the children defeated their fear of height and ended the trail with the zip line!

Mr Haselgrove visited today and was really pleased to see how well all the children are doing, and of course behaving beautifully. We had a nice dinner of roast chicken/beef and vegetable or spaghetti bolognaise, with a desert of chocolate sponge and warm chocolate sauce. Delicious!

Come back tomorrow for more news from the Manor...

Photos

Will try and publish more photos later this evening...have got to go to our activity now!

Tuesday

We have had a packed day today, with each activity group experiencing a range of different activities from our programme, including the Obstacle Course, archery, rifle shooting, abseiling and climbing! Although a little tired, everyone has hd a great day, and, our first night was one of the best Mr. Sansom has experienced in 10 years of doing residentials! Everyone was asleep within minutes of the 'lights out' instruction, and some rooms even needed waking this morning. The children are enjoying the luxury of having toilets and showers in their rooms, although are currently spending some time now tidying up!

The food has been well earned today, with a full English breakfast and choice of cereals, pasta and variety of choices for their lunch and, much to the childrens excitement this evening, chips, with a choice of pork, chicken or fish and a range of salad and vegetables. We have eaten very well so far...

Please see the photo post above for some images of the days events. We have also been filming for Chad Vale Television today, but as I have forgotten the lead we need to download the video footage, you may have to wait until we return to see the final videos!

Thanks to everyone who has messaged their children on the Chad Vale guestbook- I have passed on all the messages from home, and they have been gratefully received!

Come back tomorrow for more news from the Manor...!

Mr. Sansom

We have arrived!

We arrived safely today at about 3pm after a short detour in craven arms after the coach driver misplaced himself... Our luggage was unloaded and we had a quick tour of the site and a practice fire drill. We then had a little time in our rooms to unpack and most of the children took the opportunity to experience vending machines for what seemed like the first time! After some heavy persuasion and the use of the phrase 'what would your mum and dad say to you now" to the children with armfuls of chocolate and crisps 15 minutes before dinnertime, they conceeded that you would probably disapprove, so their treats were packed away and we went off to dinner.

After dinner we had a bit more dorm time where some unpacking took place and we arranged an emergency meeting with all of the children based around the dangers of consuming 6 chocolate bars, 2 packets of crisps and a can of fizzy pop 10 minutes after having their evening meal... After the initial excitement of the vending machine frenzy, everyone seems to have realised that perhaps 'less is more' and at the time of writing, not one child has yet to see their vending machine bounty again....

Our evening activity was a 3 mile walk in the countryside, in the dark- across fields and through woods! It was enjoyed by most- particularly those who had listened to the advice of wearing lots of layers... Those who didn't learnt a valuable lesson! It is currently snowing quite heavily here but everyone is now fast asleep in their ensuite rooms. The instructors are having to be flexible with the programme due to the extreme weather conditions but the majority of the activities planned for tomorrow should go ahead.

More updates and hopefully some photos tomorrow!

Love from the children and teachers at Manor Adventure... Xx

(if you would like to send us a message, please do so on the Chad Vale message board on our website) I will pass on all messages but can't guarantee a reply! Mr. Sansom)
